Ultraviolet aging test chamber

Programmable UV weatherability test box: can simulate the damage caused by sunlight, rain and dew on materials, QUV uses bright ultraviolet (UV) lamp to simulate the effect of sunlight, using cold quasi-moisture rain and dew. The material under test is subjected to a cycle of alternating light and moisture at a certain temperature. QUV can be tested over days or weeks to reproduce the damage that occurs outdoors over months to years. Hazard types include: fading, discoloration, loss of light, powder, crack, turbidity, foaming, embrittlement, strength decline and oxidation.

The main function:

In the QUV UV Accelerated Aging machine, the fluorescent UV lamp of the UV lamp can reproduce the effects of sunlight, and the condensation and water spraying system can reproduce the effects of rain and dew. The temperature was controlled throughout the test cycle. Typical test cycles are usually UV irradiated at high temperature and relative humidity at 100% dark moist condensation cycles; Typical applications in paint coatings, automotive industry, plastic products, wood products, glue and so on


The main features:

1、Simulated sunlight

Ultraviolet light in sunlight is the main factor causing damage to the durability of most materials. We use UV lamps to mimic the short-wave UV part of sunlight, which produces very little visible or infrared spectrum energy. We can choose different wavelengths of UV UV lamp according to different test requirements, because each type of lamp in the total UV irradiation energy and wavelength are different. Normally, UV tube can be divided into UVA and UVB two kinds.

2、UV lamp type

Uva-340 lamp: UVA-340& NBSP; The tubes mimic very well the shortwave ultraviolet light in the sun, that is, from 365  Nanometer to solar cut-off & NBSP; 295  The wavelength range of nanometers.

Uvb-313 tube: UVB-313& NBSP; The short-wave ultraviolet light emitted from the tubes is more intense than the sun's ultraviolet light, which normally hits the Earth's surface, and thus speeds up material aging to the greatest extent possible. However, the tube may cause unrealistic damage to some materials. UVB-313  Tubes are mainly used for quality control and research and development, or for running tests on materials with strong weather resistance.

Uva-351 tube: simulates sunlight ultraviolet light through window glass. It is most effective for testing the aging of indoor materials。

3、Moist and condensing environment

In many outdoor environments, the material can be wet for up to 12 hours a day. Studies have shown that dew, not rain, is the main cause of this outdoor humidity. QUV mimics outdoor moisture erosion through its unique condensation function. In the condensation cycle during the test, the water in the reservoir at the bottom of the test chamber is heated to produce a hot vapor that fills the test chamber. The hot vapor maintains the relative humidity in the test chamber at 100% and maintains a relatively high temperature. The specimen is fixed to the side wall of the test chamber so that the test surface of the specimen is exposed to the ambient air in the test chamber. The outward side of the sample exposed to the natural environment has cooling effect, resulting in temperature difference between the inner and outer surfaces of the sample. This temperature difference leads to condensation of liquid water on the test surface during the whole condensation cycle of the sample.

Because outdoor exposure to moisture can last up to ten hours a day, a typical condensation cycle lasts several hours. QUV offers two methods of moisture simulation. The most widely used method is condensation, which is the best way to simulate outdoor wet erosion. All QUV models can operate condensation cycles. Because some application conditions also require the use of water spray to achieve practical results, some QUV models can operate both condensing and water spray cycles.

4、The temperature control

In each cycle, the temperature can be controlled at a set point. At the same time, the blackboard thermometer can monitor the temperature. Increasing the temperature can accelerate the aging process, and temperature control is also important for reproducibility of the test

5、Water spray system

For some applications, water spraying can better mimic the environmental conditions of final use. Water spraying is very effective in simulating thermal shock or mechanical erosion due to temperature fluctuations and erosion due to rain. In some practical applications, such as sunlight, when the accumulated heat dissipates rapidly due to a sudden shower, the temperature of the material will change dramatically, resulting in thermal shock, which is a test for many materials. The water spray of QUV can simulate thermal shock and/or stress corrosion。

The sprinkler system has 12 nozzles, six on each side of the test chamber; The spray system can run for a few minutes and then turn off. This short burst of water quickly cools the sample, creating thermal shock conditions.

6、Radiation intensity control: optional

The precise and reproducible test results can be obtained by selecting the irradiation intensity control components. The light intensity control system allows the user to set different light intensity according to different test requirements. The radiation intensity is precisely controlled by its feedback loop device; It can also prolong the service life of fluorescent lamps
